CIGARETTE BUTTS are LITTER
Day
Sunday 29 November 2009
Action you can take now:
  1. If you are a smoker who discards your cigarette butts into our
beautiful environment, resolve not to discard any cigarette butts with
immediate effect. Always "Binya Butt" or use a personal ash-tray e.g.
empty metal container of "Eclipse" mints. Thank you. Remember
    CIGARETTE BUTTS ARE LITTER
  2. Write to your local, state and/or federal government representatives
about how disgusted you are at seeing so many cigarette butts
discarded in our world. Emphasise the effect this is having on our
environment and on our children in particular
  3. Start a petition to stop cigarette butt litter and ask as many people as
possible to sign it and send it to as many people in power as you can
  4. Place sand bins outside your home, business or organisation for
smokers to dispose of their cigarette butts more thoughtfully
  5. Write to your local media (TV, Radio, Print etc.) about the de-
sensitisation of people towards cigarette butt litter
  6. Write and let us know what you are doing in your local area so that
we may promote your actions on this website
  7. Put posters at your place of work about the facts and figures of
    cigarette butt littering downloadable from:
www.environment.gov.au/settlements/waste/cigarette-litter-day-2007
